Voltage Standards History
Different countries have different power supply. According to statistics, 4/5 of the countries in the world currently use 220V, and only a few use 110V.
There are more than 30 countries (regions) using 100-120V voltage: the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, etc. In addition, there is China's Taiwan. There are more than 120 countries using 220V voltage: European countries, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, India, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
Why is this the case?
The United States, Britain and France are the first three countries in the world to have electricity. The voltage standards in the world are roughly inherited from these three countries, generally about 10V difference (in fact, the voltage in our country is also about 220V±10V due to the power supply distance, which does not affect the use).
The voltage in the United States is 120V (110V in some overseas territories such as Guam), which is much lower than that in Britain and France. This is because the United States was the first to popularize electricity, and the engine at that time could not generate such a large voltage. This standard later affected Japan (110V), and then North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan (possibly because of the United States) through Japan. However, after the war, North Korea and South Korea were influenced by the Soviet Union and Western Europe, respectively, and gradually began to popularize 220V. Some surrounding countries and regions that are deeply influenced by the United States, such as Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, and even the Cayman Islands, which are British overseas territories, also adopt the standard of about 110V-120V.
The early voltage in the UK was 240V, but later it was changed to 230V in order to unify with the EU standard. Most Commonwealth countries and British Overseas Territories inherit this standard, such as Australia, New Zealand, India, Nigeria, etc. 240V, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, etc. 230V. However, there are exceptions, such as Canada, Jamaica and other countries, which are 110V due to the influence of the United States; Hong Kong, China adopts the 220V standard considering the use of power from mainland China.
There are also Middle East countries from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, most of which belonged to the British sphere of influence, so most of the voltages also adopted British standards, around 230-240V.
The voltage in France is 230V. Affected by it, the voltage of almost the entire European continent is around 220V-230V. Most of their former colonies in Asia, Africa and Latin America also adopted this standard. Most of the former Soviet Union countries are 220V (Russia is now gradually changing to 230V), and China, Mongolia, Vietnam, etc. are also 220V due to the implementation of the Soviet standard.
220V, 230V, 240V Electric Hoist Supply Scope of Yuantai Crane
As a quality crane and hoist supplier from China, the lowest voltage of electric hoist that Yuantai crane supply is 220V at present. The voltage range of Yuantai electric hoist is from 220V to 550V. So, for those countries whose voltage is 110V and 120V, we don't have suitable crane and hoist equipment for them.
